Indirect Involvement
As Secretary-General for European Affairs (SGAE) and European Advisor to the Prime Minister, Gaudin bore functional responsibility for France’s coordination of European migration policy. Her position entailed reconciling ministerial positions, approving and transmitting France’s instructions to the Permanent Representation in Brussels, and advising the Prime Minister on EU negotiations. In this capacity, she shaped and authorized French positions on EU migration and border policies, including SAR, Frontex operations, and cooperation with third states, thereby ensuring their alignment with France’s national interests.
