Matthias Reute was present at the meeting of Frontex Management Board (February 2017) where the subjet of negotiating the cooperation modalities with the Lybian authorities was discussed. 

After Ruete was appointed, more Directorates and sub-directorates concerning migration were created within DG HOME. The evolution of the organigram of DG HOME matches the evolution in the discourse around migration (See, Commission report, DG HOME, DG HOME and migration policies). It appears from all documents that Ruete was a very influencial person within the migration policies.
