The Directorate Genereal for International Relations and Foreigners is repsonsible for coordinating the external action of th Department of the Interior. It monitors the actions of the EU affecting the Ministry of Interior, prepares Spanish government positions within EU bodies on relevant matters, coordinates international police cooperation, coordinates with Frontex, plans and coordinates migration strategy, in particular related to transit countries and the EU and lastly, negotiates projects that are financed by European Funds.
